About Me

As someone in my twenties, I don’t know much.

It may seem silly to lead with that. I mean young people aren’t exactly known for their wisdom. Why point it out?

Mostly because I only have a tendency to only write about things I have the answers to.

As humans we gravitate to ideas and life lessons that are presented in a neat little bow, fully formed by someone who’s already lived them. Not only is this style comforting to read but it makes sense. It means your stories have a beginning, middle and an end. It’s safe.

But I’m finding myself in a stage of life where I want to see the work in progress and not the finished result. Maybe one day I’ll find my way back to the “how- to’s” and the advice-giving articles that I used to enjoy. But for now I want to feel like I’m not alone in what I’m going through.

That’s what I’m hoping to capture in this blog. I don’t have the answers, but I know that writing helps me uncover them.

C.S. Lewis explains it best:

“First, I do not sit down at my desk to put into verse something that is already clear in my mind. If it were clear in my mind, I should have no incentive or need to write about it. We do not write in order to be understood; we write in order to understand.”

So this is me writing to understand. To understand myself, the other humans I love and care deeply about, and to understand God.
